Not enough time to be lazy ...

I'm a straight, white middle-aged male. Of all the demographic groups in this country, the election results will impact me the least. That doesn't let me off the hook.

I was an activist a lifetime ago - organized, motivated people, wrote columns, made PSAs, gave workshops, etc. Then I got married, started a career, had kids, got tired, and busy and lazy. Then I got more tired, more busy, and more lazy.

There's no time for lazy anymore. I spent the bulk of my energies during the election pretending it couldn't actually get that bad, that the cumulative good people engaged in right action would carry the day. I was so wrong. It's now as bad as I thought it couldn't actually get.

Sure, it's a unique level of badness for me, but the truth is, things are still pretty cushy for me. People impacted the most by Trump's election are the same people who are always the most heavily impacted in American society.

I'm no armored knight, no savior. I'm not here to mansplain or manmanage anything, at least not intentionally. Sometimes I get a little adamant about what ought to be done or how something should be done, but it's mostly me telling myself.  I'm not claiming I can rush in and save people. I can, however, lend a hand wherever I can.

That's why this blog.  Every day, I ask myself "Yes, but what are you DOING?"  This is a start at doing something. Every day. In time, I'll get better with the something. The something will get smarter and bigger, and every once in a while, more effective.
